Details

Judging by NASA images, according to the Russian service of Radio Liberty, several fires broke out near the airfield on the night of August 22. Satellite images of the airbase from August 19 show nearly thirty military aircraft and eight trucks. According to Wikimapia, the drones could also have hit a missile depot on the airfield.

Earlier, the governor of the Volgograd region of Russia, Bocharov, confirmed the fire at the military facility. Prior to that, local residents reported that the Marinovka military airfield was burning and detonating after the attack.

Local residents reportedly posted photos and videos of what was happening, saying they heard drones flying overhead, air defense systems operating, shooting in the area of the airfield, and the sound of detonations. Residents of the military camp were reportedly evacuated.

It was also reported that the Volgograd airport has been temporarily not receiving or sending planes since the night after a UAV attack on a military facility in the region. The restrictions were introduced at 01:49 a.m. "to ensure the safety of civilian aircraft," RosMedia reported, citing Rosaviatsiya. Currently, according to the Russian media, the Volgograd airport has resumed normal operations after the suspension of airplane arrivals and departures.
