More than 600 Ukrainian companies have not returned to their regions since the beginning of the war: where business moves most often

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 18,944 cases of business relocation from one region to another have been recorded, with the most popular route being from Kyiv to Kyiv region, where 981 companies have moved.

Companies have changed their place of registration almost 19 thousand times since the beginning of 2022. The most popular destination for relocation was the route from Kyiv to Kyiv region. This is reported by Opendatabot, writes UNN.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 18,944 cases of business relocation from one region to another have been recorded. Most often, this concerns companies in the wholesale trade sector, which account for 39.4% of the total. Other top movers include construction (6%) and real estate (4.4%) companies.

Among entrepreneurs, the most frequent places to relocate are Kyiv (33.2%) and Dnipropetrovska oblast (9.6%), as well as Kyiv region (8.5%). These same regions are also the places where business relocation activity is most active. For example, Kyiv became the leader among the regions where companies relocate most often, accounting for almost 28% of the total number of relocations.  

It is currently the most popular route for business relocation:

  • from Kyiv to Kyiv region: 981 companies chose this route.
  • from Kyiv region to Kyiv - 780 companies.
  • from Kyiv to Dnipro region - 779 companies.

It is worth noting that out of 173 companies that moved and then returned to their first region, most often the business went back to Kyiv - 59 companies. However, 626 companies moved more than once but never returned to their first place of registration.

Recall

Over the past five years , there has been a trend of women opening more sole proprietorships than men. In 2022, due to the full-scale war in the country, the number of new sole proprietorships decreased significantly, but women remained more active in this area.
