Moldova summons Russian ambassador over announcement of opening of polling stations in Transnistria

Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador to express its disapproval of Russia's decision to open polling stations in the Transnistrian region for voting in the Russian presidential election.

The Moldovan Foreign Ministry has summoned Russian Ambassador to Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov for consultations. On March 12, he will be disapproved because of the decision of the Russian embassy to open polling stations in the Transnistrian region, UNN reports with reference to NewsMaker.

Tomorrow, March 12, Russian ambassador to Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the Russian diplomat will be expressed disapproval over the decision to open polling stations in the Transnistrian region of Moldova 

- said the press service of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.

According to Transnistrian media, citing the Russian Embassy in Moldova, polling stations will open in several cities -  Tiraspol, Bender, Ribnita and Grigoriopol - in the Transnistrian region on the day of the March 17 presidential election.  They will be open from 8:00 to 20:00.

The video, which reports on the opening of polling stations in the Transnistrian region for Russian citizens to vote, says that this decision was made "in accordance with the decision of the Russian Embassy in Moldova.

This is despite the fact that the Moldovan Foreign Ministry allowed the opening of a polling station for the Russian presidential election only on the territory of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
