She expressed her gratitude to the security services and law enforcement officers for protecting her husband. Melania also expressed her condolences to the families of those who suffered during the shooting.
Melania Trump called the attacker a "monster" and added: "A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine, tried to destroy his laughter, his ingenuity, his love of music and his inspiration...".
