Last year, Ukraine was excluded from the ranking of the most expensive cities in the world, but today we see Kyiv on the 132nd place. This is stated in a new report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, UNN reports.
Details
In the ranking of the relative cost of living, the capital of Ukraine ranks 132nd. In general, the index tracks prices for more than 200 goods and services in 173 cities around the world.
Last year, due to Russia's full-scale invasion, Kyiv did not participate in the ranking. However, compared to 2021, when it took 118th place, Ukraine's rank has slightly decreased.
Supplement
The latest EIU Worldwide Cost of Living study shows that global prices have increased by an average of 7.4%.
The city-state of Singapore and the most important economic center of Switzerland, Zurich, shared the top spot in the ranking this year. The Syrian capital Damascus remains the cheapest city in the ranking.
At the same time, even though prices rose by about 6%, the Russian cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg experienced the biggest drop in the ranking, as sanctions significantly weakened the ruble.
