In a hotel in Ternopil, a major shot and killed a 25-year-old border guard. The conflict arose on the grounds of jealousy. This was reported to Suspilne by the spokeswoman for the Special Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region, Yulia Shevchenko, reports UNN.

According to her, the incident happened on July 21, around 3 am.
"A major of one of the military units fired several shots from a weapon (pistol) assigned to him at a 25-year-old serviceman of the Border Guard Service. The latter died at the scene from the gunshot wounds. The conflict arose on the grounds of jealousy," Shevchenko said.
Shevchenko noted that the officer was detained under Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The issue of serving him a notice of suspicion of premeditated murder and choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.

According to local media, the major found his wife with the sergeant in the hotel and shot him dead.
