Israeli diplomats have reportedly arrived in Cairo to continue ceasefire talks with Hamas. The talks are taking place against the backdrop of US warnings that time is running out to reach an agreement.
Also participating in the talks is the US chief representative in the region, Brett McGurk. The main issues on the agenda include a phased cessation of hostilities, the release of hostages, increased humanitarian aid, and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from key areas of Gaza.
This round of talks is part of an ongoing effort to end the conflict, which continues after the October 7 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 Israelis and about 40,000 Palestinians.
