Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that his country will always defend its sovereignty, answering questions about the situation in the South China Sea. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

He emphasized the priority of partnership over conflict and stressed the importance of equal treatment of all countries.
This comment was made against the backdrop of a recent statement by the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, which confirmed that the country does not recognize China's territorial claims to the South China Sea, despite the signing of a maritime agreement with Beijing.
Earlier, China declared its right to almost the entire sea area, based on the so-called “nine-dash line” that crosses the economic zones of several neighboring countries.
Prabowo, known for his non-aligned position in foreign policy, emphasized that it is important for Indonesia to avoid conflicts, but the country will resolutely defend its territories and try to develop partnerships with all states.
