HACCU finds former chief engineer of Mykolaivoblteploenergo guilty of embezzlement - SAP

The High Anti-Corruption Court announced a guilty verdict against the former chief engineer of "Mykolaivoblteploenergo, who embezzled funds for the installation of meters for households in 2015/2016. However, due to the statute of limitations the defendant was released from part of his sentence. The Specialized Antimonopoly Prosecutor's Office reported on the court decision, UNN reports.

The court found the person guilty of committing the crimes stipulated by Part 5 of Art. 191 and Part 1 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with disqualification to hold positions in state and local government for three years with confiscation of of all property owned by him. At the same time, the court, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 2 of part 1 of Article 49, part 5 of Article 74 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, released a person from the punishment imposed under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for bringing the latter to criminal to criminal liability.

According to the SAPO, the former chief engineer of the Mykolaivoblteploenergo utility company, a panel of of HACCJ judges announced a guilty verdict on December 22, 2023. It is noteworthy that Ukraine celebrates Energy Workers' Day on this day.

According to the investigators, the defendant, being responsible for the general management of the Investment Program in 2015-2016 during the installation of program in 2015-2016 during the installation of heat energy metering in residential buildings in Mykolaiv, seized cash funds of the said enterprise totaling more than UAH 1.7 million.

The verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court comes into force thirty days from the date of its announcement, unless it is appealed to the the HACC Appeals Chamber.
