Residents of Vinnytsia are demanding that hundreds of millions of hryvnias, which are planned in the city's budget for this year for landscaping, repairs and similar things, be allocated to support the Armed Forces. This is stated in a petition to the Vinnytsia City Council, UNN reports.
The document states that these funds can be used to buy at least tens of thousands of drones. Last year, there were many scandals in the city due to the misuse of community funds.
"According to the budget of the Vinnytsia community for 2024, hundreds of millions are allocated for landscaping and capital construction. These expenditures are not a priority during the war.
These funds can be used to purchase tens of thousands of drones for military units located in the Vinnytsia community or other equipment for the Armed Forces. I remind the local authorities that the war is ongoing, and the state budget critically lacks funds for defense. In 2023, there were a lot of scandals and investigations into the mismanagement of local budgets during the war. However, as the budget of the Vinnytsia community for 2024 shows, this did not work. And this situation continues," reads the text of the petition, authored by Vinnytsia resident Dmytro Snihur.
