Former James Bond film casting director Debbie McWilliams claims that Agent 007 should remain a white male. This is reported by Daily Mail, reports UNN.
"Speaking on stage at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, one audience member asked McWilliams whether the spy could be a woman or a person of color, to which she replied: 'In my opinion, no.'
"Ian Fleming wrote the character, and that character remains. That's what I think. I mean, other people may think differently, but I don't think so," McWilliams said.
As the publication notes, former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan also previously stated that, in his opinion, the next actor to play 007 will be a white male.
In 2015, Brosnan said: 'Of course, anything is possible, but I think it will be a man and he will be white. There are great black actors who could play James Bond, and there is no reason why there couldn't be a black James Bond.'
"A woman as James Bond - no, I think it should be a man. James Bond is a man, he is masculine in every way. His name is James, his name is James Bond," Brosnan said.
