In Ukraine, seized virtual assets have been transferred to the management of ARMA for the first time. Over 8.3 million USDT (about UAH 372 million) seized in the case of an international cybercriminal group have been transferred to the agency's crypto wallet, the Prosecutor General reported. The digital assets in question were on crypto wallets controlled by a member of an international hacker group. According to the investigation, the fraudsters carried out cyberattacks on citizens and companies in European countries and the USA, stole confidential information, demanded ransoms, and laundered the proceeds in Ukraine by purchasing real estate, cars, and other expensive property.
The estimated damages from the group's activities exceed USD 100 million.
As part of the investigation, four participants were detained, including the organizer. All are in custody. Assets worth over USD 11.1 million have been seized: residential houses, apartments, cars, USD 1 million in cash, and virtual assets equivalent to over USD 8.3 million.
