The fire broke out at noon on the spire of Rouen Cathedral. Firefighters quickly took control of the situation and announced that the fire was completely extinguished around 17:00.
At this stage, no serious damage to the religious building has been reported.
Despite the fact that the fire broke out at an altitude of about 120 meters, it was quickly brought under control.
However, the firefighters needed to inspect all the hot spots before officially announcing that the fire was extinguished.
In addition to 70 firefighters and 40 vehicles, teams specializing in hazardous environments and long-term firefighter reconnaissance were also sent to inspect the scene.
