A new stage of consultative meetings with representatives of Ukraine has started in Brussels, aimed at conducting an official screening in the context of the negotiated Chapter 12, which covers "Food Security, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policy". This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, according to UNN.
The consultations will take place on April 29 and 30. The Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaliy Holovnya, is heading the Ukrainian delegation. The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the European Union for its stable and strong support for Ukraine. He emphasized that the Ukrainian state policy in the field of sanitary and phytosanitary measures is based on three key principles: food safety, plant health and protection, and animal health and welfare.
The main strategic goal in the field of sanitary and phytosanitary measures until 2030 is to establish Ukraine as a reliable producer and exporter of safe and healthy agricultural and food products
After the meetings, Ukraine will have to submit a report on its progress in each chapter. On the basis of these reports, the European Commission will analyze the legislation and issue specific recommendations, determining what Ukraine needs to do to start negotiations on each chapter.
