Law enforcement officers have sent to court an indictment against the director of the National Historical and Architectural Museum "Kyiv Fortress" accused of embezzling budget funds during the restoration, the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported.
Prosecutors of the Podil District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv sent to court an indictment against the director of the National Historical and Architectural Museum "Kyiv Fortress" for embezzlement of budget funds in especially large amounts (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
According to prosecutors, in 2020-2021, the director of the Kyiv Fortress Museum entered into contracts with a private contractor to restore Tower 4 of the museum, which is a monument of urban planning and architecture of national importance. In particular, it was planned to replace the roof of the tower with a total cost of UAH 1.4 million of roofing sheets.
"Subsequently, with the aim of embezzling funds from the local budget, the accused abused her official position and transferred the specified amount in favor of a contractor, knowing for certain that the cost of the letters was overstated," the prosecutor's office emphasized.
Reportedly, during the investigation, chemical, construction, technical, commodity and economic examinations were conducted, which established that the cost of the said coating sheets was overstated by almost 900 thousand hryvnias, i.e. more than twice.
The criminal proceedings against the director of a contractor (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) have been completed, and the defense is familiarizing itself with the criminal proceedings.
