Since the beginning of the year, coal production at state-owned mines has increased by more than 24%. Coal production has been exceeding pre-war levels for several months, despite Russian shelling and staff shortages. This was reported on Tuesday by the Ministry of Energy, UNN reports.
Details
As noted, in March 2022, 173 thousand tons were produced by state-owned coal mining enterprises, and this figure has been declining for a long time. In January of this year, the production amounted to 178 thousand tons of coal, and in February - 197 thousand tons.
In March, state-owned mines produced 221,000 tons, up 24% from January.
Average daily production rates have also increased, the Ministry of Energy emphasized. In September, coal miners produced an average of 4.1 thousand tons per day, while in March it was 7.1 thousand tons.
We have further development plans that will allow us not only to stabilize the situation in the industry but also to push for further development, in particular, by increasing coal production, which is important in preparation for the next heating season
As the agency emphasized, due to the growth in coal production at state-owned enterprises, its reserves in the warehouses of energy companies are also increasing. In particular, as of the end of March, almost 1 million 208 thousand tons of coal were accumulated in the warehouses of thermal power plants and thermal power plants, which is 508 thousand tons more than planned.
This is important for preparing for the 2024-2025 heating season, which has already begun at domestic power plants where the security situation and recovery from large-scale Russian shelling allow it
