Minsk schools have banned  Christmas songs, including Santa and foreign hits. Classroom teachers of the capital's schools received an order from the city administration to ban their use during festive events.

At the same time, the decree emphasizes that the emphasis should be on Belarusian traditions, but does not specify which ones.

The publication was surprised by the ban not only of English-language songs but also of Christmas songs. The journalists wondered, if the Christian element of winter holidays was banned, what Belarusian traditions should teachers emphasize? The journalists suggested that perhaps on the pagan Zyuz and the Russian Santa Claus.

Earlier, Minsk trade organizations received a similar order. The document was about New Year's decorations - they should contain elements of Slavic origin.
