Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko at a meeting with the G7 ministers of internal affairs and security in Japan informed his colleagues about control over arms trafficking in the country. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to UNN.
There is a war in the country, and accordingly, the number of weapons, explosives, and ammunition in illegal circulation is increasing. However, we keep under control any cases of illegal use of weapons and ammunition on the territory of our state. We are also taking measures and ensuring the accounting of weapons issued at the beginning of the invasion. In particular, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law that will improve the procedure for obtaining, declaring and handling firearms. We also support the issue of legislative regulation of the circulation of civilian firearms
He also emphasized that international partners confirm that there are no facts of weapons smuggling outside Ukraine.
As a reminder,
In June of this year, the Unified Register of Weapons was launched in Ukraine. It is intended to make the process of obtaining firearms permits convenient and accessible and to strengthen control over their circulation.
During the five months of the Unified Weapons Register's operation, Ukrainians have submitted more than 128 thousand applications for various types of weapons permits.
