Due to Russian aggression, at least 3.5 million Ukrainians have been left homeless. This was stated by Olga Altunina, Representative of the Rights of Citizens Affected by the Armed Aggression against Ukraine, during a meeting with representatives of the US Embassy in Ukraine, UNN reports with reference to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

During the conversation, several important issues were discussed:
- development and main challenges with social protection programs for IDPs;
- problems of Ukrainians who have been granted asylum in other countries;
- support for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups;
- the situation with the protection of children affected by the war.
In addition, Olga Altunina noted that during the full-scale war against Ukraine, at least 3.5 million Ukrainians have lost their homes.

Starting in January 2025, the Winter Support program will be launched for IDPswho spend more than 20% of their income on rent. The state will compensate part of the rental costs and taxes for landlords under a formal agreement.
