Last week, 5 ships left Istanbul, one each from Bulgaria and Romania and three from Turkey, which are beginning to prepare the demining zone
According to him, a clear demining zone was defined on the relevant maps, which concerned mostly international waters in the western part of the Black Sea.
The issue of expanding the area and the number of participants is on the agenda. Ukraine has also made a proposal to join this initiative. It is currently under consideration by the parties
He says that even some NATO countries have expressed their interest in demining, as liaison officers.
This is a very useful initiative for us, as it allows us to create a safer space for ships to pass through. Undoubtedly, the time will come when we will also join this, as it is in our interests
