Al-Shabab militants attacked a hotel near the presidential palace in Mogadishu, Somalia, wounding the head of the Ministry of Justice, several MPs, police and military personnel.

Militants of the al-Shabab group attacked the SYL hotel, located near the presidential palace in the Somali capital Mogadishu, AFP reports, UNN reports.

According to the information, the militants blew up one of the walls of the hotel, and then entered and opened fire. The attack injured the head of the Somali Ministry of Justice, several members of parliament, police and military.

Eyewitnesses told AFP that police arrived at the hotel a few minutes after the attack. After that, a firefight broke out between law enforcement and the militants. According to one of the agency's sources, the wounded were taken away in two ambulances. AFP did not name the exact number of victims.
