Last Friday, December 15, a presentation of Vasyl Symonenko's collection "Prayer" was held in Cherkasy, reports a correspondent of UNN.

Details

The book was published in three thousand copies. The new edition is based on the best works of the writer, as well as 80 pages of previously unpublished manuscripts by Symonenko, provided by the poet's family.

Symonenko's works were compiled by literary critic Vasyl Pakharenko, for whom Vasyl Symonenko is a special poet.

The cover of the book depicts a lifetime portrait of Symonenko, based on a painting by George the Serpent, painted by his friend, the Sixties artist Alla Horska. She gave the painting to the poet when he was seriously ill in the hospital.

The publication of this book was made possible thanks to the patronage of the MHP-Gromada Charitable Foundation. It should be noted that not long ago the charitable foundation set out to support Ukrainian museums, including the Vasyl Symonenko Museum.

"The story of Vasyl Symonenko is impressive. Every Ukrainian who lived in those times, who was persecuted, who was constantly frustrated... Every person who demonstrated this and led such a lifestyle is a hero.

We are sponsoring the publishing of 3,000 copies of the book. This is a charitable project, so these books are not for sale. We will donate them to libraries all over Ukraine," comments Tetiana Volochai, director of the charity foundation.

At the book presentation, one could hear an audio recording of Vasyl Symonenko's voice, and bandura player Taras, who is now defending the country at the front, performed songs based on the poet's poems.

The book was printed in only a few thousand copies and will be donated to libraries.
