In northern India, 41 workers trapped under the rubble of a road tunnel in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand have been rescued. The rescue operation lasted 17 days, according to The Guardian, UNN reports.

The 41 workers were reportedly pulled out through an evacuation pipe on Tuesday evening after the last section of rubble was hand-drilled by a team of specialists.
The first worker was pulled out in the evening, around 8 p.m. local time, on Tuesday. Ambulances and helicopters were on duty at the tunnel entrance to transport the workers to a nearby hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the operation "an amazing example of humanity and teamwork."

on November 12, a part of the tunnel under construction in northern India collapsed after a landslide. Efforts to rescue 40 workers trapped inside the tunnel were expanded to include drilling from the top of a mountain.
