As a result of shelling by Russian troops, the 110-year-old Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Donetsk region was partially destroyed, the Ministry of Culture reported on Thursday, UNN reports.
Details
"On July 8, the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Novoekonomichne in Donetsk region was damaged. It survived Soviet rule, the battles of World War II, and the German occupation, but Russian aggression became destructive for it," the Ministry of Culture said, noting that the church is more than 100 years old.
Recently, the PACE, as noted in the Ministry, adopted a resolution that clearly states that the intentional destruction of cultural heritage and the erasure of cultural identity in Ukraine are war crimes, crimes against humanity, and indicate a specific genocidal intent to destroy the Ukrainian national identity.
"The enemy will be held fully responsible for every crime against people, against our culture and our identity," the Ministry of Culture emphasized.
