The U.S. rejects Ukraine's proposal that Poland shoot down Russian missiles over Ukrainian airspace to avoid escalating the conflict and give Putin arguments that NATO provoked the war.

The US authorities have reacted to the proposal to shoot down Russian missiles from the territory of Poland in the skies of Ukraine. US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that America does not want escalation and does not want to give Putin arguments that NATO provoked the war. This  UNN reports with reference to Polskie Radio.

"Nobody wants an escalation of this war," Kirby said in response to a question about Ukraine's request to shoot down Russian missiles from Poland.

We want to look for ways to make Ukraine effective, but we don't want escalation. It would not be good for Ukrainians, it would not be good for Poles, it would not be good for. We want to look for ways to make Ukraine effective, but we don't want escalation. It wouldn't be good for Ukrainians, it wouldn't be good for Poles, it wouldn't be good for everybody else

- He said.

Kirby said the Polish government should establish and articulate its own self-defense procedures. However, he reiterated that the U.S. does not want escalation.

We don't want to give Putin arguments that the war was provoked by NATO, that it is a war between Russia and the West or between Russia and the US

- He added.
