Ukraine, 56 other countries and the European Union condemned the illegally organized voting in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine within the framework of the Russian presidential elections, Serhiy Kyslytsia, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, reported on March 15, UNN reports.

Following the results of the UN Security Council meeting on illegal voting, Kyslytsia issued a joint statement on behalf of Ukraine and dozens of other states, in which he condemned Moscow's election campaign in the occupied territories.
"Conducting elections on the territory of another UN member state without its consent is a clear disrespect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Such elections are not valid according to international law," the statement said.
In addition to European countries, the statement was supported by the United States, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Israel, Japan, Liberia, the Marshall Islands, New Zealand, Palau, Paraguay, the Republic of Korea and Uruguay.
Context
On March 15, Russia began three days of voting in a pseudo-democratic presidential election that is expected to give Vladimir Putin, who has been in power since 1999, another six years in office.
Moscow is also organizing voting in the occupied Crimea and parts of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine in violation of international law.
