The State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District estimates that a drone strike on a 9-story building in Odesa on March 2 caused nearly UAH 500 million in environmental damage, contaminating 5,000 square meters of land with metal fragments and construction debris.

On March 2, a drone hit a 9-story building in Odesa, causing environmental damage of almost UAH 500 million. These figures were calculated by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District, UNN reports.

On the night of March 2, an enemy drone hit a high-rise building in Odesa, destroying one entrance of the building. State inspectors examined the sites of the shelling to record and calculate the damage to the environment. It was found that 5 thousand square meters of land were contaminated with metal fragments and construction waste. The amount of damage is almost 500 million hryvnias.

The information about the consequences was transferred to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine to form a unified register of environmental damage caused by armed aggression.

The State Ecological Inspectorate addedthat on the night of March 5, when the Russians attacked Odesa region once again, the falling debris of downed drones in Odesa district damaged another recreational facility, as well as a gas pipeline and private houses.

State inspectors recorded the contamination of more than 1.4 thousand square meters of land with metal fragments and construction waste. The amount of damage amounted to over UAH 31 million. This calculation has already been included in  the unified register of environmental damage caused by Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
