Two children were hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning in their apartment in Uzhhorod, allegedly due to clogged ventilation, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Monday, UNN reports.
Details
"In Uzhhorod, two children were poisoned by carbon monoxide," the State Emergency Service reported on social media.
The incident occurred in an apartment in a high-rise building on Svobody Avenue. The boys, born in 2021 and 2018, are currently in hospital.
"Presumably, the incident was caused by clogged ventilation, which caused combustion products to accumulate in the apartment," the SES reported.
For reference
According to the SES, carbon monoxide is completely imperceptible to humans, but even in low concentrations it affects the body and can lead to poisoning and death. It is odorless, tasteless, or colorless. That's why it requires a special device, a carbon monoxide detector, to identify it, which should be installed in the house.
