Turkey will not allow Ukrainian minesweepers, which Kyiv received from Britain, to enter the Black Sea.

Turkey has emphasized that the minesweepers donated by the UK to Kyiv will not be able to enter the Black Sea until the end of the war between Ukraine and russia. This is stated in the statement of the Center for Countering Disinformation  under the Office of the President of Turkey, UNN reports.

Details

The ministry said that the claim by some media that "minesweepers donated to Ukraine by the UK were allowed to pass through the Turkish straits into the Black Sea" was not true.

Our respective allies have been duly informed that the minesweepers donated to Ukraine by the United Kingdom will not be able to pass through the Turkish Straits to the Black Sea as long as the war continues

- added the Turkish Center for Countering Disinformation.

They are convinced that such a decision will "prevent escalation in the Black Sea".

Addendum

The Center emphasizes that Turkey, as the guarantor of the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits in the Black Sea, has closed them "to warships of the warring parties (russia and Ukraine) in accordance with the Montreux Convention.
