Dmytro Ptashnyk, MHP Procurement Director, spoke about changes in the procurement department and how to be effective at the MHP Procurement Conference 2024: Big Business About Procurement.
What is important to pay attention to:
- Transform. This is a gradual process with many variables. Therefore, you need to implement change management in the team and be ready to constantly learn new things. If in 2018 MHP had a distributed procurement team at each of its enterprises, in 2024 it will be one Procurement Department that provides service and expertise to more than 50 MHP enterprises.
- The procurement department should be a partner for the business.
Since 2018, the expenses managed by the department have increased 3.5 times. In addition, we have become a member of the committee for new investments. And the introduction of the OKR system allowed us to see the direct impact of the Procurement Department's performance on the entire MHP business.
- Conduct annual audits. This will allow you to track your progress with changes and their effectiveness.
- Be innovative. We were among the first in Ukraine to implement multilateral contracts. We digitalized our work and switched our companies and partners to electronic document management. This way, contractors have access to payment schedules, and I can see procurement trends, the workload of managers, and benchmarks right from my tablet.
- Look for your people. We have introduced dual education, so students who pass the selection process can immediately acquire practical skills. We also develop our internal staff. For example, more than 20 employees of MHP's procurement department participate in the Future Leaders program and receive mentoring support from other managers.
