The Verkhovna Rada, which will meet in the coming days, will consider in the second reading a bill banning religious organizations that are associated with the aggressor country. This was stated by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko during a briefing, reports UNN.
"Indeed, there will be a meeting in the coming days. We do not disclose the time and place of it in accordance with the decree that we ourselves adopted (...). Indeed, the draft law on regulating the activities of religious organizations, which is related to national security, is one of the first on the agenda. In fact, this is a bill that is popularly called "on banning the Moscow church or ties with Moscow for churches." By the way, the president spoke out on this bill, and we heard his support, the support of the head of the Office yesterday. The day before yesterday, there was also communication – the Ukrainian Council of churches supported, and all our holy fathers spoke out, all faiths – both the Greek Catholic Church and, of course, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. I think that this bill is important to adopt. We see what discussions this issue raises in society," Kornienko said.
He also noted that at the next meeting they plan to consider draft laws on social protection of military personnel who participate in operations on the territory of the Russian Federation, deprivation of state awards for popularization or propaganda of the Russian Federation, or committing other illegal actions against Ukraine and granting citizenship to foreigners who serve in the armed forces of Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the Verkhovna Rada to meet immediately in the near future to consider the defense legislative package. As UNN learned from its own sources, the parliament will meet on August 20.
