The Holy See, in a communique on the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, held on July 26, 2024, expressed sadness and regret, reports UNN with reference to Radio Viticana.
"The Holy See is saddened by certain scenes at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and cannot but join the voices that have risen these days to express regret over the insult inflicted on many Christians and believers of other religions," the statement said.
"In a prestigious event in which the whole world is united around common values,"the statement goes on to say," there should be no subtext that ridicules the religious beliefs of numerous people.
In conclusion, the Holy See points out that "freedom of expression, which is obviously not questioned, finds its limit in respect for others.
