President Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States has agreed to continue negotiations with Iran, but he also confirmed that Washington informed Tehran that the ceasefire is no longer in effect, reports UNN citing CNN.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran asked us to continue negotiations. We agreed to do so," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
"But the United States unequivocally told them that the ceasefire is OVER!" the American leader added.

CNN notes that this week the US repeatedly struck Iran after Tehran attacked several ships in the Strait of Hormuz. But Trump did not order additional strikes on Thursday.
A diplomat told CNN that Qatari negotiators, in coordination with the United States, traveled to Iran to meet with officials there. A US official earlier told CNN that the Trump administration's strategy was to strike and then pause military operations to avoid further escalation and allow diplomacy to continue.
