If the Ukrainian-Polish border remains blocked, prices for imported goods such as fish, caviar, and citrus fruits will rise significantly due to the shortage, the economist believes.

If the Ukrainian-Polish border is not unblocked, prices for products such as fish, caviar and citrus fruits will go up quite strongly, because there will be a shortage. This was told to the journalist UNN by economist Oleg Pendzin.

... Ukrainian is unlikely to change much (in price - Ed.). Count relative to last year's figures – this is plus or minus 5-7% of the cost. The segment of what we cook-Olivier, herring under a fur coat, classic dishes-will add a maximum of 5-7% to last year's prices

- Pendzin said.

Вetails

The expert noted that citrus fruits, fish, caviar are imports.

"Everything we bring - citrus fruits, fish, caviar – is imported. In reality, it is very difficult to estimate how much it will cost, because it is not clear whether the border will be unblocked. If the border is not unblocked, the price for this segment will go up quite powerfully, because there will be a shortage", - Pendzin explained.

Add-ons

The Institute of Agrarian Economics reportedthat the new year's table-2023 was supposed to cost Ukrainians 2655.17 Hryvnia , that is, 43.9% more expensive than in 2022.
