The Defense Ministries of Ukraine and Latvia discussed the creation of a "coalition of drones"

Ukraine and Latvia are discussing the creation of a drone coalition, and both countries are ready to cooperate on the development of drones for military advantage and soldier protection. Latvia also supports Ukraine's potential membership in NATO and the EU.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and his Latvian counterpart counterpart, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds, met in Kyiv. The heads of the defense ministers discussed the prospects of creating a coalition of drones. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, UNN reports.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Latvian side for their initiative in creating the UAV Coalition. After all, the development of this war proves that the superiority in capabilities in this area is often decisive on the battlefield.

Rustem Umerov thanked the Latvian people, and the Latvian government for the huge level of support since the first day of Russian aggression. He also noted that thanks to the ammunition, artillery, and anti-tank and small arms, UAVs, ATGMs and many other modern Ukrainian soldiers are bringing the victory of our country closer thanks to the Latvians.

Latvian Minister Andris Sprūds, for his part, assured that Latvia is ready to continue to support Ukraine, that Latvia is ready to continue and deepen cooperation with Ukrainians and look for new partners to implement the "drone coalition". Adris noted that the technologies for the development of drones are important both in saving the lives of the military and  in bringing Ukraine's victory closer.

The development of technologies, in particular those that protect the lives of soldiers, is a key area of our work,

At the meeting, the parties also discussed the potential expansion of training programs for the Ukrainian military by Latvian instructors.

The Ukrainian and Latvian ministers also touched upon the also touched upon Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic perspective in the context of the next NATO Summit to be held in Washington, DC.

According to the Latvian defense minister, his country is a steadfast and unwavering supporter of Ukraine's full membership in NATO and the EU: "We believe in what was said in Vilnius (at the last NATO summit). ... Ukraine should become the 33rd member of NATO as soon as possible," the Lithuanian Minister of Lithuania.
