Water supply in three central districts of Odesa has been cut off due to an accident, and the consequences should be eliminated by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, according to the mayor of the city, Gennady Trukhanov.
“Due to an emergency water main break, residents of the Primorsky district (including the central part of the city) and some streets adjacent to the Primorsky district, Khadzhibeysky and Kyivsky districts are left without water supply (there may be a decrease in pressure),” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Trukhanov noted that an excavation at the accident site revealed damage to a cast-iron water pipe of significant diameter. According to him, cast-iron pipes are more vulnerable to temperature changes and are also more difficult and time-consuming to repair.
According to the mayor, all of Infoksvodokanal's emergency services teams are involved in the repair work and will work around the clock.
“Given the technological features and complexity of the repair work, the estimated time for resumption of water supply is by 12:00 on July 19,” Trukhanov wrote.
