More than 200,000 people from Ukraine have been granted temporary protection in Spain since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. The country is the fifth in the EU in terms of the number of temporary protection permits granted. This was reported by UNN with reference to Heraldo.

According to a report presented by the Minister of Integration, Social Welfare and Migration, Elma Sais, more than 200,000 people have been granted temporary protection in the country since the beginning of the war. As noted, three out of ten people are under the age of 18, and six out of ten are women.
Almost 21,000 people with temporary protection are registered with social security authorities, most of them women. 38% of employed refugees are employed under permanent full-time contracts, 21% under part-time contracts and 10% under permanent seasonal contracts.
It is also reported that currently about 14,000 displaced persons remain in the system of reception of international refugees and temporary protection.
According to the Spanish Minister, given the current conflict situation, "alternatives to temporary protection, such as legal migration channels, special residence status or access to international protection, are being explored.
The report also states that Spain's investment in assistance to the Ukrainian population since 2022, including public funds and European Union co-financing, exceeds 1.4 billion euros, with another 50 million euros pending final approval by the European Commission.
