Germany remains committed to supporting Ukraine with financial and military aid, and Chancellor Scholz has expressed readiness to increase aid if other countries "hesitate."

Despite the budget crisis in Germany, Berlin will continue to support Kyiv with both financial and military aid, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said. According to him, Germany may even increase the volume of its assistance, DW writes, reports UNN.

Details

This war is obviously not going to end so quickly. Therefore, it is important that we are able to do what is necessary for a long time, namely, to continue to support Ukraine in its defense struggle

-  Scholz said.

At the same time, the chancellor emphasized that Germany should be ready to increase assistance to Ukraine "when others start to hesitate."

According to DW, Scholz was apparently referring to the US blocking direct budgetary support for Ukraine.

"Putin cannot and should not expect us to give in," the German chancellor said.

Addendum

The day before, Germany handed over a new package of military aid to Ukraine. It included shells, drones, and vehicles.
