An official of Rosatom involved in the theft and destruction of property of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant during its temporary occupation worth more than UAH 1 billion has been served with a notice of suspicion. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports.
Under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Deputy Director General for Security of JSC "Leading Design and Research Institute of Industrial Technology" of the State Company "Rosatom" was served a notice of suspicion
He is accused of violating the laws and customs of war under international treaties ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Article 28(2), Article 438(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect was on the territory of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant from February 24 to March 31, 2022.
According to the prosecutors, he ordered to dismantle valuable equipment and other property, load it into military vehicles and take it to the territory of Belarus. Other property that could not be exported was ordered to be destroyed.
"The damages are estimated at UAH 1.038 billion," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.
