Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has announced the successful use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, which is not a modernization of old Soviet systems, UNN reports.
Details
"You know, yesterday I informed the personnel of the armed forces, Russian citizens, our allies around the world, as well as those who are trying to blackmail us with force, about Russia's latest medium-range missile system. This is ours, yours, a system that you have called "Oreshnik." It's a ballistic missile with a non-nuclear hypersonic warhead. As you and I know from the analysis of objective control data, the tests were successful. And, as I have already said, we will continue these tests, including in combat conditions, depending on the situation and the nature of the security threats posed to Russia. Moreover, we have a stockpile of such products, a stockpile of such systems ready for their use," Putin said.
He stated that the Oreshnik is not a modernization of old Soviet systems, but rather a system based on modern, new developments.
"No one in the world has such a weapon as we know, as you know, yet. Yes, sooner or later it will appear in other leading countries, we know what developments are underway there. But it will be tomorrow, or in a year or two. And we have this system today. And this is important," the dictator added.
According to him, the "Oreshnik" is not a strategic weapon and noted that there are no means of counteracting such a missile, no means of intercepting it in the world today.
He also said that, in addition to the Oreshnik, several similar systems are being developed in Russia for further testing.
