This was a response to the tense situation that continues due to the parliamentary elections, the results of which are not recognized by the opposition.
At least several tens of thousands of people gathered on Rustaveli Avenue – significantly more than the day before, when the police used special equipment to disperse demonstrators.
The protests broke out with renewed vigor after the Georgian government announced the suspension of negotiations on the country's membership in the European Union. Demonstrators demand the resignation of the government and repeated elections, accusing the authorities of undemocratic actions and deviating from the European course.
