Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes that signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan is realistic, provided that existing agreements are respected after the recent exchange of prisoners between the two countries.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the signing of a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku in the near future is very realistic, NEWS.am reports, UNN writes.

At the ministerial meeting, Pashinyan said that if Azerbaijan does not abandon the agreements already reached, the signing of a peace treaty in the future will be very realistic.

"For my part, I want to emphasize that Armenia reaffirms its commitment to these agreements. The only question that arises is when a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be signed in the near future. There are several approaches to answering this question. One can focus on the facts that indicate that the probability of such an event is low, and one can focus on the facts that can give a more positive picture that the probability of such a development is high," Pashinyan added.

He also noted that yesterday an exchange of prisoners took place between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"I would like to consider yesterday's event as a zero point, after which we can at least make efforts to make all subsequent news more indicative of an increase in the probability of signing a peace agreement, and not vice versa," the Armenian Prime Minister emphasized.

As a reminder

On December 13, Armenia and Azerbaijan exchanged prisoners of war. 32 Armenians and two Azerbaijanis were released from captivity.
