Because of the war started by Russia, more than 6,500 crimes against the environment have been recorded in Ukraine. The damage has amounted to almost 70 billion euros.

This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Hrynchuk during a telethon, reports UNN correspondent .

The consequences are terrible for us - there are more than 6,500 cases of ecocide, crimes against the environment that have already been recorded, for which the evidence base has been collected and continues to be collected. This is a huge amount of damage - almost 70 billion euros - that has been caused to various areas of our environment. These include water resources, foxes, and increased greenhouse gas emissions

- Hrynchuk said.

Hrynchuk also added that the monetary estimate is very approximate, and according to minimal estimates, it is between 65 and 70 billion euros.

These are very approximate figures. Unfortunately, the damage caused to the environment in monetary terms is much greater than to all other sectors of the economy

- Hrynchuk said.
