According to a recent poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology , 35% of Ukrainians believe in astrology, 25% in psychic abilities, and 15% in tarot. This was reported by UNN with reference to KIIS.
Details
Sociologists note that both men and women believe in astrology, psychic abilities, and tarot, with a higher rate among women (49% believe in at least one of these things compared to 36% among men).
The figure increases from 26% among respondents under 30 to 51% among respondents over 60. While 34% of respondents with high incomes believe in at least one of the listed beliefs, 65% of those with very low incomes do.
At least 43% of Ukrainians believe in one of these things
The sociologists added that they have no way of assessing the impact of sincerity in answering this particular question, but their experience in conducting surveys gives us reason to trust the general trends they have found.
Addendum
KIIS Executive Director Anton Grushetsky commented on the survey results and noted that crisis and psychologically difficult periods (both at the social and personal levels) are a "favorable" environment for the growth of interest in astrology, psychic abilities and tarot.
According to him, according to a KIIS survey for NDI in November 2023, 66% of Ukrainians reported a deterioration in mental health after the full-scale invasion
In addition, according to him, the development of digital technologies greatly "simplifies" contacts between Ukrainians and astrologers and fortune tellers.
Given the scale of the situation, it is hardly advisable to simply stigmatize people who believe in astrology and the like if one wants to have a discussion. The basis of belief is quite complex and cannot be quickly dispelled by simple arguments (or even mockery). At the same time, the issue also requires attention, as many people in difficult circumstances may suffer significant losses or resort to destructive actions under the influence of unscrupulous people

For reference
The survey was conducted from February 17 to 23 as part of the Omnibus nationwide public opinion poll. A total of 1,052 respondents living in all regions of Ukraine (except Crimea) were interviewed by telephone using a computer based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers.
The survey was conducted with adults (aged 18 and older) who were citizens of Ukraine and resided in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine at the time of the survey.
The sample did not include residents of the territories temporarily not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, and the survey was not conducted with citizens who left the country after February 24, 2022.
Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.1) did not exceed 3.4% for indicators close to 50%, 3.0% for indicators close to 25%, 2.1% for indicators close to 10%, and 1.5% for indicators close to 5%. In general, we believe that the results obtained still retain high representativeness and allow us to analyze public sentiment quite reliably.
