According to the Mariupol City Council, a memorial sign to the Zaporozhian Cossacks of the Kalmius Palanka was erected on the site of the Kalmius watchpost, the center of the Kalmius Palanka, to mark the 500th anniversary of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
The sign has commemorative inscriptions and recognizable seals of the Zaporizhzhia Sich, in the center of Cossack Square in central Mariupol, near the Drama Theater. It was installed over 30 years ago.
