The publication emphasizes that this initiative is supported by a number of goodwill ambassadors. In particular, former British MP from the Conservative Party Charlotte Leslie, who has ties to the Middle East.
It is clear that if Ukraine is sitting on a large amount of surplus grain, and there is a huge continent that needs it badly, these two aspects must be linked. The fact that Ukraine continued to supply food from its Black Sea ports to those who desperately needed it is a testament to Ukraine's courage and resourcefulness in the darkest of times. It is vital that those who believe in fundamental freedoms such as democracy and the rule of law do everything they can to support Ukraine in these difficult times and show the world that authoritarianism, repression and terror will ultimately fail

Currently, Ukraine exports grain at subsidized prices only to Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia. Instead, Ukraine plans to expand the program to countries such as Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Yemen.

It is noted that so far only Qatar has financially supported the idea of expanding the Grain from Ukraine initiative. However, Leslie may be able to negotiate support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
