Passenger traffic on the Ukrainian border may increase to 100 thousand people per day closer to the New Year and Christmas holidays, and on some days reach 120 thousand people per day in both directions from the current 70-80 thousand. This was announced by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon, according to a correspondent of UNN.
We expect passenger traffic to increase closer to the New Year and Christmas holidays. Now it is not as intense as it is in the summer, or during Christmas or New Year. Currently, about 70-75 thousand people cross the border per day on weekdays and about 80 thousand people on weekends,

The SBGS spokesman noted that passenger traffic could increase to 120 thousand people per day on the eve of the winter holidays.
"If you recall the last New Year and Christmas period, the passenger traffic can increase to 100 thousand people per day, and on some days it can reach 120 thousand people per day in both directions. This, of course, will increase the intensity and, possibly, the number of vehicles waiting in queues to cross the border," Demchenko said.
He advised people to inquire about the state of congestion at the checkpoints, both on the Ukrainian side and on the Ukrainian side, when passenger traffic starts to increase, in order to choose the least congested directions.
