Restoring the Trypillia thermal power plant, which was destroyed as a result of a Russian ballistic missile attack, without providing Ukraine with air defense systems is a futile exercise. This was stated by Andriy Gota, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Centrenergo PJSC, on the air of the Ukrainian service of the Voice of America, UNN reports.

As of yesterday, this station is at zero. It does not work at all, it is completely destroyed. It provided electricity to almost three million people, including those in the Kyiv region. In the morning it was shelled with ballistic missiles and supersonic missiles. Some of them were shot down, some of them hit because of the lack of missiles for air defense. Gota said that it is possible to restore the station, but it is almost impossible to do so without international partners.
"Anything that can be restored, last summer we had a similar picture when these units were not repaired and some stations did not work at all. That is, we can restore everything. We have a very good team, a very motivated team to restore. Of course, it is almost impossible to do this without international partners, so we already have certain promises to provide us with transformers, turbines, and other equipment from European countries, but again, without a sufficient number of missiles for air defense, it will be a futile exercise, to put it mildly," Gota said.
He noted that currently, when the weather outside is acceptable, electricity consumers will not experience significant power outages, but blackouts may begin closer to summer.
"We will have to save electricity in the summer. It's hard to imagine what will happen in the winter, because winter is the most difficult period," Gota added.
