According to Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk, the Russian Black Sea Fleet was not ready for a long war due to the lack of necessary infrastructure and logistics.

The Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation was not prepared for the possibility of fire damage to their main base and for a long war. This was stated by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk during a telethon, UNN reports .

First of all, it (the Russian Black Sea Fleet - ed.) was not prepared for the fact that their main point of deployment, Sevastopol, could be targeted. After all, it is there that has a rather extensive infrastructure, rather extensive logistics, which includes not only military but also civilian infrastructure

- Pletenchuk says.

According to him, it is extremely time-consuming and expensive to build such infrastructure in Novorossiysk, even for Russia.

They did not expect that they could strike the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet or the places of storage of fuel and lubricants or ammunition depots

- He added.

Recall

Russian ships are mostly located in Novorossiysk, and in fact, this is the only base where they can be stationed. Pletenchuk calls the number of ships in Crimea "remnants"because they are mostly large amphibious ships undergoing repairs.
