"These strikes were aimed at weakening and disrupting the ongoing series of attacks against the United States and our partners, and deterring Iran and Iranian-backed militia groups from conducting or supporting further attacks against United States personnel and facilities," Biden said in a letter to senior congressional leaders on Wednesday.
"The United States stands ready to take further action, as necessary and appropriate, to address further threats or attacks," the letter reads.

The United States conducted strikes on three Hezbollah targets in Iraq in response to the attack on US military bases in Iraq and Syria.
